The above-mentioned quote by Michael Wang, a junior chess player from the US, is best suited to understand the benefits of playing chess as a kid and how it can have an impact on kid’s education.

There are many benefits of playing chess at a young age. Chess is a simple game, there is a board, there are 32 pieces on that board, you and your opponent are both fairly contesting within a set of rules to get the victory.

Within the set of rules, there are more than a million set of moves that can be made. There are so many options and a kid gets to explore that as they play chess regularly.

Medical studies clearly show the direct impact of playing chess on kids mental abilities. There have been a number of studies which have proven the benefits of chess in terms of results. In Venezuela, a study of over 4,000 second-grade students found a significant increase in most student’s IQ scores after only 4.5 months of systematically studying chess.

As we stated earlier, there are millions of ways to move forward in a chess game. Just analyzing and reacting to your opponent’s move isn’t enough, you require creativity to win.

Sharpening Their Memory

A chess move isn’t just a single move, it follows a number of moves to get the pieces where you want them. You will be against your opponent on different fronts on the same battlefield, this requires good memory to make follow-up moves and outsmart your opponent.
